We Were Liars by E. Lockhart – pages 1-48
“We are Sinclairs.
No one is needy.
No one is wrong.
We live, at least in the summertime, on a private island off the coast of Massachusetts.
Perhaps that is all you need to know.
Except that some of us are liars.”
Many events happened in these 17 chapters. I learned about Cadence Sinclair going every summer to her family’s private island, Beachwood. She always sees her cousins, who are all around the same age, has fall birthdays, and called by the family, the four Liars. She meets Gat in Summer 8. Before Summer 15, her father left her family. Back at the island Gat and Cady started to fall in love. In Summer 15, Cady gets into an accident while swimming just off the island. Gat leaves Cadence, and Cadence goes into Summer 16 with nonstop migraines, and constant throwing up. That summer in Europe with her father, it’s a mystery what is happening to not only her, but to the doctors as well.
In my discussion I will bring up how Caddy uses so many metaphors to explain how she feels in how crazy her life is. When she is explaining how she felt when her dad left, she described it like him shooting her in the chest, and the bullet hitting her heart. I think Cady is a really deep person.
